{Sponsor Highlight}: Nicole from Rose Runs Wild

I am so happy to have the lovely Nicole from Rose Runs Wild as one of my special sponsors this month. I've really enjoyed diving into her blog and taking in all the inspiration she pours out on there. And can we talk about what a handsome son she has? He has completely stolen my heart with his amazingly awesome red afro. Anyways... here's a little bit more from Nicole herself...
Hi! I'm Nicole from Rose Runs Wild. Our blog is a little bit of everything from raising a pre-teen, fashion and planning our wedding to me crocheting things for our dogs and making them wear them. You never know what will be up each day. My main focus with our blog is to be as open and honest about life as possible. I want my readers to feel like they are getting to know the real us and be able to relate. We are just a family living our life here in small town Indiana. So to get to know us a little bit better, here is a little bit about each of us!
Logan - He's 12 and good lord does he have a lot of hair. He just started 6th grade and his favorite thing in the entire world is skateboarding. He skates every single day and we make it to the skate park as often as possible. He is also extremely into animals of all kinds. If it were up to him, we would have a zoo at our house. He has a frog, spider and caterpillar that he is currently caring for and we have had everything from scorpions to mice! He is a sweetheart, patient, kind and still hugs and kisses his mama even when his friends are around.
Mama - I'm a mama first and foremost. I had Logan when I was 18 and we have a very close relationship since most of his life it has just been the two of us. Three years ago I started dating the love of my life and this past August we got engaged! We are currently planning our wedding for October of next year. I work full time for a coffee company in the finance department and blog as much as my schedule allows. I love random dance parties in the kitchen, house plants, crocheting, road trips and really bad pop music.
Gray - An Indiana native that spent most of his 20's living in New York working in the music industry for a decade. He is an amazing partner and does all the cooking, thank god. I hate cooking. He works so hard to provide an amazing life for our family and is one of the most generous guys you will ever meet. He just recently started his own company, Lumberjack Marketing & Consulting and I couldn't be more proud of him!
Bacon - He is the fattest Boston Bulldog you will ever meet and the sweetest. He is an attention whore and will give you no choice but to pet him if you are on the couch. He enjoys eating, relaxing, popcorn and absolutely hates going on walks. He's the king of lazy but that's kind of why I love him so much.
Waffles - The biggest baby of a dog I have ever encountered. She is a blue Pit Bull and the kindest most gentle dog you will ever meet. She loves people and to snuggle. She demands a walk at 9 a.m. each morning and puts herself to bed at 8:30 every night. She loves a good walk, doing laps around the yard and taking over the couch once she is worn out.

Thanks for reading a little bit about us and we'd love for you to pop over to Rose Runs Wild! Hope you have an amazing day and thank you so much to Maryam for having us on her beautiful blog!

{The Sakura Bloom Sling Diaries}: Connection

     I am very honored to be joining 14 other stellar families in Sakura Bloom's second edition of the Sling Diaries. For the next six months, I will be chronicling Ocean's life and growth as he's perched up with me in his sling. Each month there will be a different theme to reflect on and this month, the theme is connection. {I am wearing the Simple Silk sling in Amber.}

Oh my dear Ocean Baby,
You are growing and developing quicker than I could have ever imagined. You've been keeping a watchful eye on your big brothers you are learning all about our adventures and their outdoor explorations. Right now, you sit comfortably in your sling, swaying your head side-to-side, trying your hardest to keep track of where they are off to next. It is clear by your body language and squeals of excitement that you wish your little body could be down there scurrying around with your big brothers. You are a lucky little guy because your brothers adore you more than you know, and they are joyfully anticipating the day when you can join them. You, our Ocean Boy, are the anchor that keeps us connected as a family and you seem to continually bring the best out of each and every one of us. It is our bounty to have you. You are so loved.
Forever Yours',

{Fortuna Family Happenings}: Our San Diego Trip Part 2

Hi Friends! We are back with a few highlights from the second part of our trip back to San Diego {Part 1 here}. As I am typing this, Coral and Sky are sitting on my lap and they are telling me all about their time with their friends and family in San Diego. I scroll by a photograph and they seem to get flooded with a new memory and story to impart. Little moments like these make it worth documenting. I'd like to think that one day, they might sit down again and sift through the blog with our family hashtags and see what they were up to.
Hanging at his old stomping ground at the beach in Cardiff with his best friend, August.
For the second week of our trip, we got to stay with another one of our family friends. They had just bought their first home and literally moved in the week before we came. Vafa and Susie have four children of their own, so bringing in three more boys was, well, adventurous and amazing. Susie is one of my kindred mom friends, so having so many of our little humans under one roof was kind of a hoot. There was a definite sister-wives thing going on and I loved it.
We were also lucky to have a special visit from my brother who brought my my niece and nephew down. They drove about 2 hours to come and spend time with all of us and it was just perfect. My big brother and his kids got to meet Ocean and all the cousins had a lovely little pool/park date .
My brother Randall and my gorgeous niece Addison (below).

Little smiley man.

Thank you for following along, friends!

Breastfeeding in Style: Easy Sweaters $40 and Under

Breastfeeding in Style: Sweaters $40 and Under

After last week's post for breastfeeding-friendly Comfy Sweaters, a reader asked if I could put together a collection of more affordable picks. I sifted through a few of my favorite online shops to try and find you some cute sweaters that you can easily pull up to breastfeed and are still within a $40 budget. In the styleboard above, the main wearable items {the sweater, skinnies and wedge boots} are all from Target, so hopefully it will give you some easy and familiar shopping. Just click the photo and it will take you to my polyvore site where you can click the individual pieces to shop online.
