Ocean's First Week

Well hello there friends! It's been quite a while since I've dusted off the old keyboard. To be quite frank, I've been trying very hard to ignore the blog and work stuff so I can focus on life with my growing family. My time is being stretched in many (wonderful) directions and finding a way to sit at the desktop computer is proving rather difficult. I am trying to be the best mom of three that I possibly can (not easy at all) and forcing myself to just slow down for now. So if you're still around, thank you for hanging in there :)

At this point, Ocean is now 7 weeks old and a whole lot has happened since his name announcement. I'll try my very best to do a proper update in a timely manner. So here we go...
All of my worries about my older boys (Sky 2.5 & Coral 4) accepting the new baby into our life were pretty much futile. Both Coral and Sky have welcomed their Ocean baby with warm, open and happy hearts. I try to be very conscious of my reactions to the older boys, especially our sensitive Sky Boy, when it comes to the baby. If they accidentally bump him, or bring too many toys and plop them on his face, I try to make sure I don't hurt their feelings. Other times, I decide to let the baby fuss a little bit longer and just hug and kiss on the boys so they know that they are still my priority. At this point, baby Ocean has no idea what's going on, and with so much change in Coral & Sky's little lives, they need to still feel appreciated and important.

To make room in our happy co-sleeping bed, we decided to sleep the opposite direction in the Cali King. Best idea ever. It's the perfect amount of space for us. We have yet to actually flip the bed around against the wall.

Coral loves him too.
We were incredibly lucky to have family members and visitors to keep the boys company and continue with their normal schedule. At different and overlapping times, we had Brian's mom, my parents, my sister Amy, my sister May and her in-law family who lives in Honolulu included her sister-in-law, Amelia, Brian's dad and one of my best friends, Roya. So much love and motion to keep this home feeling as normal as we can.
My sister Amy came bearing the gift of projects and activities. This is truly priceless when it comes to entertaining my boys. They love them some art projects. Below, they were "excavating" dinosaur eggs from the Dollar Store to find tiny little bones that can be put together. The other cool project that she brought (and I can share in more detail) is a diy catapult made out of recycled items you can find around the house. It provided a hefty amount of entertainment for the boys.
The Solly Baby Wrap I tried out for the first time which I LOVE. (Just so you know, at this point in the picture, I forgot to pull up the bottom part of the wrap. So be advised, follow the directions properly before handling a little babe.)
     Such a sweet little nugget.

Till next time.
All my love,
Maryam
