I am very happy to introduce you to one of our lovely sponsors, Carrie, the crafty lady behind Red Dahlias. Carrie and I are sharing this pregnancy time together, as she is due with her first baby just a few weeks after me. Her Etsy shop boasts tons of handmade baby and mommy items including these adorable baby leggings, carriers, slings and even nursing covers at some super affordable prices. I think it's pretty awesome that you can get yourself a nursing cover for just $18 (most retail for $50 or more) and you get to know that it's handmade with love, from another mama just like you :)

What inspired you to create Red Dahlias?
I was inspired to create Red Dahlias after becoming pregnant. I was researching sewing patterns and products that I wanted to make for my own baby, and I decided I wanted to share what I found with a larger community.
How did you create the name?
I don't have a good answer for how I created the name. I wanted a name that would work with baby products, but I might change what I offer as my child(ren) grow, so I wanted a name that was flexible as well. I knew I wanted it to sound natural/nature inspired. And, finally, my husband and I had red dahlias at our wedding last summer, and I think the dahlia is a pretty and glamorous flower, so it all worked.

What is your favorite product to make and why?
My favorite product to make are the baby legs because they are so cute and so practical!

What’s it like being a work-at-home mom?
Working at home has taken some getting used to. I LOVE the flexibility and the hours are perfect, however it can be a little lonely sometimes with just me and my dog. I used to teach middle school, so I was surrounded by dozens of preteens all day, and sometimes I miss that. But I do appreciate the chance to be creative and in control of my own work.
