So what is a Push Gift anyways? Did you get one? Do you want one? Well... I had to find out more about it because I have heard of it from time to time, but never received one myself. So after a little bit of research, I found it very interesting that there's an 1000 year history of push gifts, all surrounding the Roman Goddess of childbirth, Juno Lucina.
She "safeguarded mothers and their newborn children. Theology states that she was invoked during childbirth for both an easy delivery and the promise of a healthy child. The name Lucina, of Latin origins meaning light, refers to "she who brings children into the light of the world for the first time." In ancient times, as was the custom, men presented their woman with a gift in commemoration of Juno Lucina who protected both mother and newborn in their journey ahead."
{There she is, Goddess Juno Lucina in all of her glory}
So this is where our lovely sponsor, Juno Lucina got their name. They wanted to bring back this ancient tradition and offer an elegant and meaningful way to commemorate and celebrate the birth and protection of mother and baby.
I had a chance to talk on the phone with the owner/creator, Eric, who is as genuine and authentic as can be. He expressed that as he himself is a new Father, he knows firsthand the sea of emotions (and sometimes stress) that come along with the birth of a child. He truly wants every Juno Lucina push gift to celebrate this special moment for mother and baby, just the same way he would for his own family.
There are many jewelry companies out there, but Juno Lucina is the only company that's only focus is on us moms (two thumbs up). This means that every part of the company surrounds the celebration and appreciation for Mothers, which is very unique in my mind.
It's also clear that their pieces aren't just for husbands to give to their very pregnant wives, its a way for any loved one (grandparents, aunts, uncles, even a handful of close girlfriends) to show the love for us mamas.
It comes in a pretty box with a sweet and sentimental little poem.
And this is their Signature Pendant. Pretty stunning, right? It symbolizes the hands of Juno Lucina®, the Roman goddess of childbirth, cradling and protecting the head of both mother and child.

I want to enter this to win for my friend that has pushed out 4 babies & gives sacrificially of herself more in one day than I knew was possible in a lifetime. She has a special needs baby that is now on his 4th hospital admission in less than 2 months & is very, very sick right now. (As deserving as she is, I know the winner is random but i figure any extra prayers wouldbe appreciated) if you'd like to read her story & see why id give it to her rather than keep for myself, her blog is http://rambosrampages.com

I would like to win this!!! Diamonds are a girls best friend :) Even though I worked hard to push out my 2 beauties I would give this to my mama who labored for 42 hours to have me - 3 failed epidurals, and having to go under general anathesia to have a c-section and waking up to find everyone already met me and left the hospital (my dad included) - She is still traumatized and I would love to give her this beauty :)

I think I deserve this because I am pregnant with my first baby during the hottest and stormiest summer I can recall. I'm scared nervous and super excited for September to be here!!

I would like to win this beautiful necklace because I dreamed and took a 12 week class to prepare for pushing my baby out naturally but found out at 36 weeks pregnant that my little man was breech. And despite doing everything in my power to turn him (moxa, flips in the pool, weird upside down exercises), the little man wouldn't budge. I had a planned csection and a much longer recovery than I initially planned. My email is holdenonbaby@gmail.com
Isn't it funny how we don't like to say we "deserve something"?
I'll say it ;)
I deserve a diamond necklace, because even though I didn't "push" my babies out, I carried them each for 9 months, sacrificing my body (and some sanity). I had 2 csections and got through a surgery at 4 days old for my 1st and 2 days in the nicu for my 2nd.
I think all moms deserve a diamond necklace for all they do for their children- birthed naturally, csection, surrogate, or adopted :)

I would love this push gift because I brought a perfect little boy into the world against all negative support for my natural birth! We are expecting #2 as well!

I would love to win this necklace because the pendants reminds me if that sacred time when my baby girl was still a (somewhat) hidden part of me. I delivered her at home five weeks ago and although she insists on being held (preferably by mama) at all times, I am still getting used to the feeling of having this part if my self on the outside in a different, tiny body.
Oh, and katrina.wilhoite@gmail.com :) (new mama brain!)

We had to take our then three week old to the er for what appears to have been a peanut allergy (which led to diarrhea and vomiting and, hence, dehydration) . She was completely fine within minutes of getting there and only needed some IV fluids (as well as some blood and urine samples) but boy wad that the scariest experience of my life. I can't imagine what it would be like to have a child constantly in hospitals - I will definitely be praying for your friend and following her blog!
Seems sort of selfish to start off with "I deserve"--but I certainly don't mind talking about how hard it was to get through morning sickness or telling everyone I was in labor for 27 hours :). In any event, I'd love to win. maryclaireb@gmail.com
